I was really disappointed that the Plaxtol Bakery had to shut their shop in the High Street. It was a real treat to be able to buy a top quality loaf of a Saturday morning. Actually, I used to buy at least 2 as well as crusty rolls and the occaisional cake.
Well, there's still a shop in York Parade which I happened to be passing this week.
I actually popped in for a few crusty roll but came out with the bread you see here: a large whits crsuty loaf; a small kibble, 4 Kentish Huffkins.
The Huffkins are a new line and have gone down very well with the children. They're made with milk and are very light. [Update Sadly, as of late 2006, no longer available]
Try as they might, the supermarkets have yet to match a good baker.
