Saw the new version of the film yesterday and enjoyed it.

Not sure why, but I expected it to be a little darker than the earlier film. However, although the naughty children are still humiliated on their way out, it isn't ever scary (though it is rated PG).
Interestingly, my son and daughter both felt the most disturbing scene was the puppets meeting a sorry end during the Wonka Welcome Song.
Really liked the squirrels ... they'd come in handy at our place over Christmas as we set about eating the nut harvest!

One thing I must do is check the book to see if Roald Dahl called the confectionary candy.
Yuk! I hope not. For some reason, this really set my teeth on edge.
