The Great British Pub Walk

GB Pub Walk

My friend Darren is walking from John O'Groats to Landsend. To quote him from the Web site ...

Hopefully by doing this walk I can raise the profile of the great British pub. For too long now it has unnecessarily been the brunt of negativity. As a publican myself, I know, as do many others across the country, what a key part the local pub plays in any community. Loving our local and all the great work it does on a daily basis is something we should all be proud of. That's why I'm encouraging the whole country to get behind The Great British Pub Walk and show their passion for the pub, whilst raising money for charity. From a quiz night or a barbeque to actually joining me along the walk, it's about being proud of your pub, helping others & most of all having fun along the way.

All money raised will be donated to The Variety Club, which has been helping sick, disabled and disadvantaged children for over 50 years. Whether building a paediatric unit, donating a Sunshine Coach to a special school or taking a group of children on a fun-packed day out, the Charity aims to make a real difference.

I'd like to think he'll raise a lot of money as well as interest in a very British tradition.
