Cricket in Dublin

Dublin - cricket match at the University

I didn't expect to be watching the my first math of the season in Dublin. It's a good ground and the weather was lovely. In fact, it was more like a June day than the beginning of May.

Swanmead April 2006

I'd heard that it was wet at Swanmead so I went down to have a look for myself. It is!

And to think we're supposed to be playing cricket before the month is out.

End of the cricket season

Although there are still fixtures on the card, there'll be no more home games. After the first Saturday in September the ground is given over to football.

But it's not time to put our feet up. There's a lot of hard work required to make sure the square will be ready for next year.

Went with a small party of Kent cricket fans to watch the match between Kent and Middlesex. The Telegraph posted a better report of the day's play than I can manage.

"Play up! Play up! And play the game!"

Ashes urn

There is no doubt that the 2005 Ashes Series is producing some wonderful entertainment.

Sport at its best.

It is also getting good coverage in the media. However, a small piece entitled Top of the charts by Sue Mott in today's Daily Telegraph had a rather sorry conclusion:

Cycle route 12

We had a family bike ride along this new cycle route the first weekend it opened. It was popular with other as well!
